The structure

Four parts of every session.

The shape doesn't change — what we do inside the shape always does. This is what to expect from your sixty minutes with me.

  1. 01

    Warm start

    We open in Spanish, talking about your week. It's how we activate what you already know, and how I gauge what's loose, what's tight, and where your mind is today. Casual but deliberate.

  2. 02

    Today's focus

    The main lesson. Could be grammar, could be a topic, could be working through a piece of writing or a conversation you need to have this week. I prepare materials specifically for what we agreed to cover — slides, exercises, audio, real-life scenarios.

  3. 03

    Live practice

    Where the lesson actually sticks. Real conversation in Spanish, applying what we just covered. I push, gently, and I correct in a way that doesn't break your confidence. This is the part most students remember.

  4. 04

    Wrap and homework

    We close with a quick summary, I send you tailored materials within the hour — a vocabulary list, exercises, a reading or song or video matched to your level — and we set the next session.

Lessons happen on Google Meet — clear video, screen sharing, easy to use. Between sessions, you'll get materials in your inbox: a personalized vocabulary list, exercises calibrated to your level, and reading or listening recommendations matched to your interests.

You'll also get my WhatsApp. If a sentence is bothering you on a Tuesday afternoon, message me. If you're nervous about ordering at a restaurant on Saturday, message me. I'm not always instant, but I am always real.

If you're already mixing both

Spanglish isn't a mistake. It's a starting point.

Spanglish (noun): cuando you can't find la palabra en un idioma so you fill it in con la otra. If that's you — reaching for the English word mid-sentence, apologizing for your accent, worried you sound silly — you're much closer than you think.

That instinct to keep the conversation going instead of freezing is exactly the instinct fluency is built on. My job is to give you the missing words, not to make you feel bad about the ones you don't have yet.

Common questions

What if I'm a complete beginner? Perfect. I specialize in beginners, and because I'm fluent in English, I can explain everything clearly while still building your Spanish from day one.

How do online lessons compare to in-person? Honestly, almost identical. Google Meet works beautifully for one-on-one teaching — I share my screen for activities, I see your face, you see mine, we have the conversation. The only thing missing is the coffee.

What makes Colombian Spanish different? Paisa Spanish (from Medellín) is widely considered one of the clearest and most neutral accents in Latin America. It's an excellent foundation — you'll be understood anywhere from Mexico City to Buenos Aires.

What's your cancellation policy? Reschedule or cancel up to 6 hours before with no charge. Life happens. I'm flexible.

Do you give homework? Yes — calibrated to what we covered, and to how much time you actually have that week. I'd rather give you a small thing you'll do than a big thing you won't.
